Monday Morning Musings – April 4th

THE WORD OF THE DAY IS SIMPLE

Yesterday was a great day for our church.  It was a delight to my soul as I stood back and watched our young church taking another step towards becoming a whole family formed by a whole Gospel!  I truly love this church!  Our Sunday lunches are one of the best decisions we made in our early stages as a church.  They are easy ways to connect with each other and our new folks who visit.  It’s beautiful…simply beautiful!

Here’s something that might encourage you.  Since we started leaving a sign up over the past 3 weeks at Lancaster at the corner each week, we have seen 12 different families join us.  Six of them came in because they saw the sign and 1 came from doing an internet search and saw us on Facebook and the others were by invitation by members of our Grace family.  My take away is simple.  God will bring people to us if we will be faithful to love and lead them into becoming fully formed Christ followers.   Keep it up!

So what is our part?  Here are few missional discipleship points to consider:

1.) Don’t underestimate the power of hospitality.  If it works at our monthly lunch, it can work in your home as well!  Consider linking up with 1-2 families from Grace this Spring and Summer (before we launch formal Grace Communities) and hosting a regular grill out or something and invite your neighbors.  IT’S THAT SIMPLE.

2.) Don’t let me be the only follow up with our guests at Grace.  Honestly, I love hanging out with our guests but sociologically speaking, people who develop deeper relational roots with stick around.  So connect with one of our guests each week and invite them into your life in some way.  Make it simple…SIMPLE IS BEST!  I want our church to be known for extravagant hospitality and generosity!  Help us build that culture!  Trust Jesus, he’ll hell you do it.

3.) Have your ever discipled anyone 1-on-1?  If not, let me help you get started.  I can give you some SIMPLE tools to aid you in that process.  Discipleship happens best in relationship so when you are showing hospitality, you have already started the Discipleship process that Jesus often times utilized himself.  But of course, it doesn’t end there.  You want to get them into the Gospel.  This is where I and a couple other men and women in our church are gifted at helping you.  Ask and we can make this happen!

4.) PRAY FERVANTLY – You’ll hear this Wednesday night what our plans are for the next steps as a church.  Prayer is a major component this summer specifically.  When you sit down to review the catechism and scripture memory (NOT JUST FOR THE KIDS, IT’S FOR ALL OF US!), also pray together as a couple or family!  Let’s cry out to God to change the hearts of the people we have in our lives.  Not that other prayer requests are not important but the matters of the soul are way more important.  If you ask for prayer for someone who’s ill or sick, please seek God’s help in how YOU can lead them to wholeness in the Gospel not offer up an organ recital.  Let this be our SIMPLE vision to pray for a spiritual harvest in people’s lives!    If you are available at 9:15 each Sunday, please join us for prayer as a church family while our kids are in Kid’s Blitz.  Please be on time as guests typically show up around 9:45-9:55.
