FAMILY WORSHIP RESOURCES – Prepare for Sunday 1/24/2016
Sermon Title – JESUS: THE HERO OF OUR STORY
Who or what is the functional hero of your life? We all have something or someone we look to that we believe will rescue us from the disappointment, failures and brokenness of our lives.
The Story of Redemption that is on display from the beginning to the end of the Bible is the great story where by a TRUE & BETTER Hero comes to stand in our place and be our victor over the sin, death and brokenness we fail to overcome ourselves. Next week, when we look at 2 scenes of Jesus’ life, we will see how both identifies with us and accomplishes everything we can’t as people corrupted and broken by sin.
Read Mark 1:9-13 & Romans 5:12-21
Ask these questions about Jesus’ Baptism and Temptation after you read the text together as a family:
1.) Why did Jesus need to get baptized? What did Jesus’ baptism signify?
2.) Why did Jesus face the temptation in the wilderness with Satan? What did Satan tempt Jesus with? (Read Matthew 4:1-11)
3.) In the end, how does Jesus’ baptism and temptation make us truly happy?
Watch the video for songs we will sing at Grace Gathered as a family…
